Purple Tree Photography offers two different kinds of sessions! "Classic" and "Editorial". What's the difference you ask? Well allow me to explain! :)
A "classic" portrait session is what my blog posts have represented most in the past. They are relaxed, with little preplanning and go with the flow. Basically, we just hang out and explore our location while I snap away! I aim to get a good mix of photographs both gently posed and completely unposed. They almost always involve a wardrobe change or two.
An "Editorial" session centers around a theme/concept and requires a little more forethought and planning. It is a great way to capture what represents your children and/or family at this point in your lives. Editorial sessions only require wardrobe changes if it fits in the concept and are much more likely to require "props". They can be completely undirected, where I just sit back and capture what unfolds, or slightly directed to get the most out of the concept/theme. With an editorial session I still get a mix of photographs but I stay within our concept. An editorial session works best for albums as well as wall groupings.
Photos do a better job at explaining then I can! So check out a sample from an editorial session I did yesterday! These girls LOVE water and spend pretty much all summer outside in the sprinkler or pool so this concept was perfect for them!
Thanks to Olivia and Jenna for being such great editorial models! :)
