purple tree photography

by kelli taylor

Phew! The nursery is done! It was definitely a labor of love and I hope our little boy or girl (my money’s on girl) will enjoy it! Still hard to believe that in about five weeks we will have a new little person in our family…but onto the nursery!

Before – Since this room was our third bedroom we haven’t touched it since we moved almost two years ago. So this is how the room was when we moved in, except I forgot to take a before photograph before some patching took place.

After! – Special thank you to our friend Jeff aka Potsy who painted the ceiling, helped paint the walls and trim (even though I ended up repainting the walls TWO more times to end up with white) AND built the inset bookshelf instead of the weird, off center, storage cabinet that was there.

These birds were used in Sutton’s nursery and I just repainted them.

Another big thank you to family friend, Kathy, for sewing the window valance and matching pillow!

The star was another thing I reused from Sutton’s nursery, repainted.

Love this poem that I took from “Where the sidewalk ends” and painted the large mat.

A few more big thank you’s! To my Mom for helping paint and babysit while I painted (yes I really did paint this room THREE times to end up with pure white). To my Dad who hung the closet doors and put up the ceiling fan! And, of course, my hubby for all the extra’s and putting up with me while putting it all together. Won’t be long now…

peace & pictures,
kelli

Tasteful, cozy, and welcoming! I especially love the books, the poem, color choice–and the LOVE of painting that went into it! Can’t wait to meet the newest Taylor!

After all the blood, sweat & tears, it turned out great! Boy or girl, the baby will have a lovely room to call his/her own. XO

Beautiful. What did you use to make the bookshelf?

Found my way over here from Apartment Therapy. I have to sat…this is one of the most striking makeovers I’ve seen. Great use of color. The book rack is a great idea, both for efficiency and as a decorative element. Love the MCM rocker, the valence fabric (where did you find it?)…the e!starburst… the little poem….you’ve got a great ey
