Goodbye 2010

12.31.10

Personally, 2010 was a year of tremendous change for me and my family. It really did seem to go by in the blink of an eye (even though it should seem like longer when you factor in those sleepless nights) and in other ways I feel like NYE 2009 was forever ago and I'm a different person now. In February we became parents when we welcomed our little man, Sutton, into the world. Other then some expected small bumps in the road (those dang sleepless nights again), Sutton has been an angel and we are so lucky he is such a good and healthy baby!
In June I had to say goodbye to my best friend, my baby boy, my puppy dog, Oscar. I still miss him and think of him daily. He really left a hole in our family that will never be filled. Props to his sister Bella. She was extremely depressed for the first 6 months but is bouncing back to her old bossy self now. Which, with a 10 month old crawling on you and bugging you all the time is no easy feat. She has been an amazing dog during all this change and I should go give her a cookie when I'm done with this! :)

Professionally, 2010 was the year to find balance. With a new baby, working from home became a lot more interesting aka harder. A big shout out to my Mom and my Mother-in-law for helping me out! I couldn't have done it without you! I also continued to grow as a photographer and found the time to attend two photography workshops by two amazingly talented photographers: Barb Uil and Shannon Sewell. After over three years, I have learned SOOO much and feel like I'm settling into the photographer I want to be. Of course, there's always room to grow and I plan to continue to learn and push myself. I am extremely excited for what 2011 has to offer!

A big heartfelt THANK YOU to all of my clients! Without you there would be no Purple Tree Photography and I would just be wandering around aimlessly with my camera! ;) I'm officially declaring 2011 the year of the newborns! A few of my favorite clients have already told me they are expanding their families in the new year. AND Chris and I have countless (seriously, I think it's over a dozen now) friends and family, including BOTH of my sister-in-laws, who are expecting babies 2011! Speaking of, here's a sneek peek from my SIL's maternity session that's due in about a month!

Thanks to everyone who stops by to read this poorly spelled blog. I wish everyone a safe and happy new year!

  5. I've been waiting for a little sneak peek of Kathy's bump! It's adorable! Hmmm, when should we book our 2011 session? I'm thinking we'll probably do May or June again!

2010 has been a year of change for the Taylors/Smiths and most of it has been a blessing for sure. Sutton is a gift to both of our families and is one loved little boy! Oscar is missed by us all and you are right….there will never be another Oscar Baby, but Bella has stepped up to the plate and is a great "big sister". We are so glad to see your success with PTP and are very proud of you! XO Can't wait to meet the two upcoming Taylor family babies!

Great pic! Can't wait to see more…

So I completely dropped the ball with the blog this month…this month tuned out to be one of the busiest all year! Moving on. :)

I thought I would share our family Christmas card and the making of it. So many people that received it wanted to know if Sutton and Bella were in the tub at the same time. The answer is yes, not once, not twice but THREE different times! Bella has just started speaking to me again even though out of THREE times, she never got an actual bath where she exited clean.

Here are a couple of the outtakes. These are just crying out for thought bubbles aren't they!?

And the actual final Christmas card.

Hands down best card I received! Thanks for sharing those outtakes. They are precious. You and Bella are very patient women!

Miss Lovisa has one of the coolest nurseries I've seen! It is a travel theme, which is appropriate since she is half Swedish and I see lots of traveling overseas in her future. If she's even half as good a traveler as she is a model, Mom and Dad won't hesitate to take her everywhere!

How sweet is she!?

And I can't forget her new best friend Sidney.

Thanks to Lovisa, Mom and Sidney.
